LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Athletics and Cox Sports Television (CST) have expanded the existing partnership between the two organizations for the upcoming 2020-21 calendar year, it was announced on Friday.

Beginning with the 2017-18 athletic season, the Ragin’ Cajuns and CST have partnered on live game programming and weekly coaches shows exclusive to the Gulf South sports network.

“We are thrilled to expand our relationship with CST, continuing to broadcast the Ragin’ Cajuns brand into millions of households nationally,” Deputy Director of Athletics/External Operations Nico Yantko said. “These are tremendous opportunities for our fan base to see exclusive Ragin’ Cajuns content and allowing for the stories of our student-athletes and coaches to be told.”

Over the three years of the relationship, Louisiana Athletics has produced such programming as Inside Louisiana Football, Inside Louisiana Basketball, Inside Louisiana Baseball and Inside Louisiana Softball. Live programming, including games for baseball, softball, volleyball and soccer, has featured head coach interviews, student-athlete features, and more.

“We are very excited to continue providing viewers quality programming that involves the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns,” said VP of Production and CST Head Rod Mickler. “At this point in time, we are all looking for a bit of normalcy and coverage of Louisiana Athletics can help this state and this region do just that.”

New to the network and set for broadcast on Tuesday, Aug. 18, will be the first-ever linear broadcast of a Ragin’ Cajuns eSports Tournament, premiering at 7 p.m. CT. The University’s eSports student organization will conduct a Rocket League tournament, and the public will have an additional five opportunities to view the production in the coming weeks.

Additionally, Louisiana Athletics has the distinction of producing the first-ever university-based nationally broadcast eSports tournament.

“Our eSports program is another recruiting vehicle for our university,” Yantko said. “We are excited to showcase this outstanding student organization, as well as create new revenue streams to support our mission.”

Also of interest to Ragin’ Cajuns supporters will be the broadcast of the Department of Athletics’ Welcome Back Convocation, an annual awards show for Louisiana’s student-athletes. CST will premiere the show at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Productions for CST are often generated in-house by the Ragin’ Cajuns’ broadcast services department, which additionally serves as a training ground for University students interested in working in television.
