The University of West Florida men’s and women’s basketball season is almost underway, and Cox Sports Television will air a total of 20 Argonaut games this season. Beginning Wednesday evening, CST will begin broadcasting live Argo contests from UWF Fieldhouse in Pensacola, FL.

The UWF men’s team is coming off a sixth-place finish in the Gulf South Conference that included a 14-14 overall record. Jeff Burkhamer’s club is picked to place fourth this season in the GSC largely on the strength of their returning cast. The Argos return 34 percent of the team’s backcourt scoring between Tarik McKelphin, Brett Carter Jr. and Cameron Cox.

Head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton leads the UWF women’s team in her ninth season on the bench. Yelton has reached the NCAA Tournament four times and looks to regain a spot in the postseason. The Argos will be led by Danielle Norquest. The senior forward ranks 11^th all-time at UWF in total rebounds and averaged 14.5 points and 12.9 boards a game her junior season.
