Alvin Kamara Explodes for Career Game in Victory Over Giants

Alvin Kamara was the driving force behind a third consecutive New Orleans Saints victory, as the second-year running back took complete control in the second half against the New York Giants.

The Saints defeated the host Giants 33-18 to improve to 3-1 and now sit alone atop the NFC South.

Kamara racked up a career-best 134 rushing yards on 19 carries, along with three touchdowns after halftime, including the clutch 49-yard dagger to ice the game with 2:06 remaining.

Kamara got on the board with a 9-yard touchdown to put the Saints ahead 19-7 in the third quarter.

Kamara’s second score was a 4-yard touchdown with 6:47 to go that extended the Saints’ lead to 26-10.

The multi-faceted Kamara also added five receptions for 47 yards.

Kamara gave major props to the offensive line for their tremendous job in helping to spring him loose.

“It starts with that o-line,” Kamara said to NOLA.com. “Our o-line is tremendous. They want to run the ball. When we call a run play, they act like they’re getting the ball. It makes it easy for me to be able to get behind them. When I score, it’s like they score a touchdown.”

The Saints’ offensive linemen know they only need to give Kamara just a small hole for the running back to hit paydirt.

“He always gets us going, man,” left tackle Terron Armstead said to NOLA.com. “Anytime he touches the ball, it could be six (points). At any point. It don’t matter the play, it don’t matter the situation. Anytime he touches the ball, he can score.”

With Mark Ingram slated to return from his four-game suspension for the Monday Night Football game against the visiting Washington Redskins, the Saints will have a two-headed monster in the backfield for opposing defenses to fear.

“It’s about to be ugly,” Kamara grinningly said.
