Kentucky Kicks off Heisman Campaign for Star RB Benny Snell

After starting the season unranked, the 4-0 Kentucky Wildcats have shot all the way up to No. 17 in the AP poll anchored by junior running back Benny Snell.

Snell leads the SEC in rushing and is third nationally with 540 yards.

Snell is No. 1 in the SEC in rushing touchdowns (7), which is fourth in the nation. Snell additionally is tops in the SEC with 138.8 all-purpose yards per game.

Snell scored four touchdowns in Kentucky’s upset victory vs. Mississippi State and got into the Kentucky record book for several feats.

Big Blue Nation is making a major Heisman Trophy push for the sensational Snell beginning with this awesome video, as well as creating a website called SnellYeah.com, which includes videos and stats.

“Nothing has ever been given to me,” Snell said in the video. “I’ve been overlooked longer than I can remember. When schools didn’t offer, I ran harder. When I got my opportunity, I took it.”

Snell doesn’t listen to the detractors and naysayers. All he cares about is giving his all to the Wildcats.

The opinions from anyone outside of Big Blue Nation are moot.

“It’s a good thing I love this game. But even as the yards piled up, I’ve got my haters. You can knock me down. You can say I’m just alright. You can call the numbers lucky,” Snell said. “You can call me nothing special. You can tell people not to buy the hype. That’s fine. I don’t play for recognition. I don’t play for awards. I play for Kentucky.”

Snell is going to continue chugging and staying true to himself regardless of the Heisman chatter.

“I’m not going to let that just be in the air,” Snell said to 247Sports. “It is what it is. My play speaks for itself, that’s all I can say.”
