“It’s a Big Number”: Drew Brees Throws 500th Touchdown in First Win Against Ravens

On Sunday, Drew Brees joined some exclusive company and to top it off also checked the last opponent off his victory list.

With his one-yard touchdown to Benjamin Watson in the second quarter of a 24-23 victory vs. the Baltimore Ravens, the New Orleans Saints legend became just the fourth quarterback in NFL history to reach the 500 touchdown mark.

The only other members of the club are Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Brett Favre.

The Saints (5-1) are on a five-game winning streak and remain in the top spot in the NFC South.

The Saints (5-1) edged past the Ravens for the victory after Justin Tucker missed a game-tying PAT with 24 seconds remaining.

Brees passed for 212 yards and two touchdowns in the victory/

Brees, who entered 0-4 against the Ravens, has now defeated all 32 NFL teams during his illustrious career.

Afterwards, Brees discussed his 500th touchdown, the offense’s aggressive approach on fourth downs and snapping his winless record against the Ravens.

“It’s pretty cool. It’s a significant milestone. It’s a big number. It’s a lot of touchdowns. A lot of guys catching those touchdowns and a lot of guys blocking,” Brees said. “I can’t think of a greater person, a greater human being, greater teammate than Benjamin Watson to catch that ball. So I told him he should keep it. He was like: ‘Nah, you’re taking it. It’s yours.’ So it’s just great to have these moments with my guys.”

Brees and the Saints will travel to the Minnesota Vikings (4-2-1) for a Sunday Night Football showdown on Oct. 28.
