NEW ORLEANS – On October 28, 2002, the sports landscape in Louisiana was altered when Cox Communications launched the state’s first and only 24-hour regional sports network. With a push of a button, Cox Sports Television reached 400,000 customers and never turned back. Now, 15 years later, CST has grown exponentially.
To mark the 15 years as the Gulf South Sports Leader, CST is giving viewers an opportunity to look back at all the sports stories and events covered by the network. Beginning today, CST will begin a weekly countdown of the top 15 moments covered by CST since launch in 2002.

Throughout the 15-week celebration, viewers will get the opportunity to hear from many of the sports figures that have become deeply involved in helping CST continue to be the state’s only regional sports network. Via the network’s YOUTUBE channel, Facebook account and Twitter page, CST will post, share and tweet and will take the opportunity to stay in front of friends and fans throughout the anniversary celebration.
The week leading into the network’s birthday will be a very special celebration. Not only will the top moment be unveiled but CST will also debut the network’s 15-Year Anniversary Special. Produced by Emmy-Award winning producer Tom Gregory, the hour-long show will recall the past 15 years with special guests and behind-the-scenes stories of the Gulf South Sports Leader.

Since CST was launched, the network has televised events that run the gambit of local and regional sports coverage from the highest level of competition. CST was an integral part in introducing the then-New Orleans Hornets to the Gulf South by broadcasting 65 games per year and quickly began coverage of others. Currently, CST broadcasts include programming for the New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers, Arkansas Razorbacks, New Orleans Baby Cakes (formerly New Orleans Zephyrs), Pensacola Blue Wahoos and more.
