Saints Re-Sign Defensive Tackle Jay Bromley

Welcome back, big fella. You’re about to be thrust into one of the biggest games of the year.

With nose tackle Tyler Davison still recovering from a foot injury, the New Orleans Saints are planning to re-sign defensive tackle Jay Bromley, according to the NFL Network per Nola.com.

Bromley enters the fold just in time for an NFC South showdown at the rival Atlanta Falcons on Sunday (1 p.m. EST, FOX).

The Saints previously signed Bromley after a tryout in May and released him as part of the team’s final pre-season cuts.

The addition of Bromley will help solidify the interior of the defensive line.

The 6-foot-3, 314-pound Bromley spent four seasons with the New York Giants prior to being acquired by the Saints, amassing 76 tackles and two sacks.

The 26-year-old native of New York played collegiately at Syracuse, where he earned third-team All-ACC honors as a senior.

Davison missed the Saints’ Week 2 victory vs. the Cleveland Browns and undrafted rookie Taylor Stallworth played 26 snaps as his replacement.

The potent Falcons offense, with a three-headed monster of quarterback Matt Ryan, running back Tevin Coleman and wide receiver Julio Jones, will present a difficult challenge for the Saints defense.

However, New Orleans is coming into Mercedes-Benz Stadium with increased confidence.

After allowing 48 points in the season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Saints defense bounced back to hold the Browns to 18 points.

The Saints and Falcons split the season series in 2017, with each team winning at home.

Atlanta leads the all-time series 52-46.
