For Cameron Meredith, there was a great sense of appreciation in the locker room after he allowed himself to process the moment.
In his first game played this season, The New Orleans Saints wide receiver hauled in a one-handed 11-yard touchdown during the third quarter of the 43-37 overtime victory vs. the Atlanta Falcons.

This was Meredith’s first regular season game since Jan. 1, 2017 when he was a member of the Chicago Bears and his first touchdown since Christmas Eve in 2016 vs. the Washington Redskins.
It’s been a journey for the fourth-year player who has dealt with a torn ACL, surgery and rehabilitation and was inactive in his first two games as a member of the Saints.
That’s what made the touchdown even sweeter. “You always look for milestones, coming off of an injury like that,” Meredith said to The Advocate. “For it to be my first game back in the regular season, so many emotions going through your body and mind, it was really overwhelming at the time.”
With the game still hanging in the balance, Meredith kept his composure after his touchdown.
However, once the victory was secured, it was time to exhale and enjoy. “In the moment, I didn’t allow it to sink in,” Meredith said to The Advocate. “It’s sinking in now, and it’s amazing.”
