TULSA, Okla. – The University of Arkansas softball team dropped its midweek road game Wednesday evening, losing to Tulsa by an 8-0 score. With the setback, the Razorbacks are now 19-5 this season. Tuesday’s game was the first of two meetings scheduled this year with the team’s matching up again April 11 in Fayetteville.

Junior shortstop A.J. Belans broke up a perfect-game bid with a double down the line in the fifth inning. She now has a hit in eight of Arkansas’ last 10 games, raising her batting average 50 points during that stretch and is now hitting .300 entering the weekend. After the double, however, Tulsa starter Emily Watson retired the next two hitters to end the game in favor of the Golden Hurricane.

Tulsa (15-10) scored four unearned runs in the second inning off Arkansas starter Autumn Storms. The home team added another four spot in the third inning. All eight of Tulsa’s runs were scored with two outs. Freshman Caroline Hedgcock came in to record the third out of the third and retired the side in order in the fourth. Junior Autumn Russell continued her strong play at third base, recording six assists in the game. She ranks third in the SEC in assists.
